Start celebrating, Frozen fans! A fourth Frozen film may be “in the works”, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger.
In his recent interview with Good Morning America, Iger confirmed that Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 both are in the works. Check out what he said:
“But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. Jen Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories,” Iger added.
The Frozen animated franchise is Disney’s one of the most successful franchises. The original entry came out in 2013 and earned over $1.2 billion globally. Its sequel, Frozen II, was released in 2019. It performed better than its predecessor, collecting over $1.4 billion worldwide. The wonderful duo of Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck has helmed both animated features.
Disney does not treat the Frozen franchise like all of its other animated franchises. Frozen has become much more than an animated franchise. In many ways, it has become a global brand. Apart from the planned sequels, Disney has also built numerous theme parks and products based on the franchise. It makes sense why Disney is so confident with the world of Frozen.
We should expect the lead cast members, such as Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), Josh Gad (Olaf), and Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), to return to portray their respective characters in the third and fourth films.
With both Frozen 3 and Frozen 4 being simultaneously made by Disney, we should not get a big gap between their release dates. Frozen II came out six years after the release of the first entry. Stay tuned for more updates.
