Chris Hemsworth’s filmography treasures some enormous blockbusters, with most of them coming out of MCU’s treasure. From commencing his acting career as George Kirk, father of the iconic James T. Kirk, in J. J. Abrams’ Star Trek (2009) to returning as Tyler Rake in Netflix’s Extraction 2, the on-screen “God of Thunder” has indeed travelled a long way in his amazing acting career. Avengers: Endgame (2019) is his highest-grossing movie. But it was certainly not his best in terms of acting performance. The man can do so much more than summoning lightning and flying with a hammer. He stars in the upcoming George Miller’s Mad Max spin-off, Furiosa, alongside Anya Taylor-Joy. And we may witness his career-best performance in that one.
Hemsworth has high praises for Furiosa. He has even spoken highly of director George Miller on several occasions. In a recent interview with GQ, the actor shared his experience while filming the forthcoming Mad Max project:
“It [Furiosa] was by far the best experience of my career, and something I feel the most proud of. It made me think, the work isn’t what’s exhausting, it’s what kind of work it is, and how invested I am in it and if it is challenging in the right ways.”
The actor also hailed Miller as a “masterful” helmer. He will play a bearded biker warlord, Dementus, in the film.
Chris Hemsworth has never played a character like Dementus before in his career. If we take into consideration the level of action and chaos in George Miller’s Mad Max universe, then we may get a crispy and savage performance from Hemsworth in Furiosa, which may even turn out as one of the best performances of his acting career.
The first Mad Max film (1979) revolved around Max Rockatansky, a young cop who looks to avenge the brutal deaths of his son and wife. After this one, we got two more amazing sequels, Mad Max 2 (1981) and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985). The fourth entry in this franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), had Tom Hardy in the leading role and featured Charlize Theron as Furiosa. The film is considered one of the best action movies in cinema history. It means the upcoming Mad Max spin-off will have to do something special to turn out better than Fury Road.
Additionally, Furiosa has tremendous hype behind it. People are excited to see Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy in the film. It is scheduled to release globally on May 24. Stay tuned for more updates.
