Furiosa Used AI To Make It’s Score

Furiosa was already having a tough time, but the weather is about to get a whole lot worse. The film, which was destined to be the first big hit of summer, turned out to be a mediocre experience, suffering a significant hit at the box office.

And now, its association with AI will affect it even more.

People are still living with the no-tolerance policy toward AI. Although they are slowly letting their guard down, association with AI is still as evil as association with the Devil. This connection might affect the already struggling film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Furiosa’s composer, Tom Holkenborg, stated that he used AI to create deep fake voices for the score.

‘I used AI to make deep fake voices from another voice. I’d actually used it, not for voices, but what if the source sound was a drum rhythm, and what if the destination sound was an electric guitar? But the software doesn’t know what to make of it. So it gave us a happy accident that we used throughout the score.’

Now, how good or bad is this situation?

Yes, you could argue that the studio could have used voice artists or musicians to achieve this, and using AI is definitely replacing humans in this case. However, it’s not clear if WB made an attempt to use artists before resorting to AI.

We can’t make a harsh judgment without knowing all the details.

Secondly, it’s the composer who is doing this, and there might be a chance that he used it for the sake of his own craft. As an audience or reporters, it’s not our responsibility to comment on this. But whatever the case, the score of the entire film is definitely commendable.
