Very unapologetically we have called the original content slate of JioCinema “crap”. And why not? See their originals from last year and you will finally find a handful of them to be tolerable. Unbearable actors working in scripts that could bore you to nausea. That was the power of JioCinema.
But, finally, we have a series that does not look like crap. Actually, quite the contrary, it looks good. We are talking about Gaanth Chapter 1: Jamnaa Paar. The series directed by Kanishk Varma stars Manav Vij, Monika Panwar, Gopal Datt, Saloni Batra, Rajesh Tailang, Ajit Koshy, Naved Aslam and Shravan Borana in important roles.
Manav Vij is a talented and recognisable actor whom we have seen in films like Andhadhun and Laal Kaptaan. The series is a crime thriller which has hints of the Burari case. Thankfully, JioCinema did not repeat the Hotstar mistake as nobody wants a fictional series that just adapts the Burari Case after the fantastic Netflix India documentary.
There is a medical angle, eerie occult and of course police investigation that adds to the charm of the show. Even the reviews have been promising so far. A lot of things, including app experience, are really bad at JioCinema. But, if you spent 29 Rs and purchased a JioCinema subscription then you can try watching Gaanth Chapter 1: Jamnaa Paar.
