Gal Gadot’s Facepalm Moment: Labels Bilkis Dadi Her Wonder Woman For the Wrong Reasons

Bilkis Dadi, as an Indian, we all must know her in today’s day and age. Bilkis Dadi as people fondly know her today, is an octogenarian who has led the protests in Shaheen Bagh during the CAA/NRC protests that shook the nation during December last year which continued into this year’s starting months. Now you may ask seeing how the title of this article makes sense. How are Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot and Bilkis Bano related?

Well, as the year comes to an end and Wonder Woman made a comeback, Gal Gadot took to Instagram and shared her personal list of Wonder Women that she admired. This list included the new Vice President of U.S. Kamala Harris, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, her mother and then comes our 82-year Indian hero, Bilkis dadi herself. Bilkis Dadi recently became a global icon as she was listed in Time magazine’s 100 most influential people. Though she has been appreciated all over the world for her work and protests that went against the government, Gal Gadot didn’t really thank her for what she is known for.

She wrote in her story on her instagram profile that was dedicated to Dadi that said, “This 82-year-old activist fighting for women’s equality in India showed me it’s never too late to fight for what you believe in.” Added there was Bilkis Dadi’s photo and within minutes people all around started to state the fact about Bilkis Dadi actually did and what she is known for. People took to Twitter to address the issue that Gal Gadot started. After she came to know that something is actually wrong, she was quick to remove the story from her profile.

If you ask why this is an issue? The answer is it most definitely is an issue. Famous personalities and celebrities around the world do take a stand for things that are going on but it has happened over and over again when people posted something with their fans and it angered them more as they proudly stood with wrong information in their hands. This is what happened with Gal Gadot herself, even though she stated Bilkis dadi as a protester, she mentioned the reason which was completely out of context. This protest that Bilkis dadi was part of has a lot of people’s emotions and anger towards the certain act attached to it. Most celebrities don’t follow or don’t do their research enough and end up sharing something that is completely irrelevant.

If someone wants to share their thoughts on something this crucial, celebrity or not one should definitely do their homework or atleast know about it, because a lot of eyes are on you and you have the responsibility of teaching a lot more people about something that maybe is going on in a completely different part of the world. Be woke but please don’t be “half woke” or “fake woke”.
