‘Game Of Thrones’ Aegon Targaryen Spinoff Takes A Step Forward

After the massively successful ‘Game of Thrones’ series’ eight-season run concluded in the year 2019, the show’s fans across the globe are now waiting with bated breath for its other spin-offs / prequels, which are under different stages of development.

As per the latest update, the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off series based on Aegon Targaryen’s conquest of Westeros has taken a step forward in its development. The in-the-works project is being described as a direct sequel to another spin-off ‘House of the Dragon’, the GOT prequel which was based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’.

For the Aegon Targaryen spin-off, the stakeholders behind the ‘Game of Thrones’ on-screen franchise have teamed up with Mattson Tomlin, who is penning the script for the highly anticipated ‘The Batman’ sequel ‘The Batman Part II’. He has also lent his writing skills for the upcoming comic book adaptation ‘BRZRKR’ starring Keanu Reeves, another comic book film adaptation ‘Memetic’, and the movie adaptation of the Japanese sci-fi video game ‘Mega Man’.

Coming back to the Aegon Targaryen spin-off series, the basic story will revolve around how the powerful warrior conquered six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros during his rule. He ruled the kingdom with the help of his sister wives Rhaenys and Visenya and their dragons.

And far as other ‘Game of Thrones’ spinoffs / prequels are concerned, earlier this year, George R.R. Martin had revealed that three animated projects set in the world of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ were currently in the works. And the show ‘Nine Voyages’, which is focused on the legendary voyages of Sea Snake, will be made in the animated series format instead of the previously planned live-action format. Further, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ was ordered by HBO last April.

Previously, it was also reported that a ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off sequel series based on Kit Harrington’s Jon Snow character was also in development. But it has not been officially greenlit yet.

The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel which first hit the small screens was ‘House of the Dragon’, which takes place two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. ‘House of the Dragon’ Season-2 is expected to be released sometime in mid-2024.
