With ‘The Long Night’ and white walkers chapter over, it’s back to the business as usual for Game Of Thrones. The fourth episode of season eight takes us back to the middle season days when people were slowly getting used to the idea of expecting the unexpected.
The conflicts which were slowly getting established in the first episode are now taking full grown shape. The true heir of the ‘Throne’ is the last issue remaining to be resolved, and that’s where the focus has shifted entirely. The conversation between Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and Varys (Conleth Hill) were brilliantly written bringing back the sharpness seen in the best moments of the past.
Cersei (Lena Headey), finally becomes the focus of the narrative like it should be. No time is wasted in immediately reminding how sinister she is with the acts done by her. The stakes are raised as one would expect and that too after the end of the ultimate threat ‘The Night King’.
As usual, there are a few things which feel rushed and a few moments overstaying its welcome, but the closure of some of characters arcs make one have no complaint. All said and done everything is now correctly set for the final battle of throne ahead.
