“There is nothing in the world more powerful than a good story” – said Tyrion Lannister once, and rightfully so. Because, the fandom around the world created by George R.R. Martin’s epic saga, ‘Game of Thrones‘, can beat the population of numerous nations with its strength of fans.
And now, to celebrate that strength, to celebrate that fandom, and to celebrate that universal love & madness, HBO has announced an extravaganza of events around the ‘Iron Anniversary’, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the worldwide phenomenon called “Game of Thrones”.
Reportedly, as 17th of April marks the 10th anniversary of the Game of Thrones, HBO has unleashed mega plans to celebrate it with a month-long series of events. First off is a Game of Thrones marathon, or ‘MaraThrone’, as they have named it, where diehard fans of the series can watch all 73 episodes of the show. The ‘MaraThrone’ will kick off from April 10, and will challenge viewers to binge-watch the entire series to raise money for various charities, including Women for Women International, World Central Kitchen, Conservation International, International Rescue Committee (IRC), UNICEF, FilmAid International, SameYou, Royal Mencap Society, National Urban League and The Trevor Project.
As fans binge-watch the series, which will take them a total of two weeks, they will be helped along the way by the cast and crew of one of the highest rated shows on the planet. The cast and crew will rally around the viewers, encouraging them along for the good cause.
The MaraThrone will also let viewers watch special curated collections of episodes – six in all – that will highlight specific plot lines in the series. For instance, fans can binge-watch a curated collection of episodes that highlights Daenerys Targaryen’s journey in the series; or the myriad action-packed battles; and so on.
Besides the above, 150 video-clips of behind the scenes footage, bonus content featuring actors’ interviews and interactive sessions, trailers and clips will simultaneously stream on HBO Max as part of a special Game of Thrones Spotlight Page.
The month long Game of Thrones ‘Iron Anniversary’ will surely be a mega-event for the stars and the fans to rejoice and reminiscence the glory of Game of Thrones once again in a new and epic way.
Fans are already getting nostalgic and pumped up with this news. But they have other things to be excited about too. The already announced upcoming show “House of the Dragon”, which will essentially be a prequel of the events of Game of Thrones, is ready to begin production this year and will hit the screens on 2022.
