The first two episodes of the concluding season of the epic drama Game Of Thrones were building on a grand promise of war sequence. There were reunions and farewell songs all leading to the “Battle of Winterfell”. Well, here it is finally, and it lives to all the hype that has created until now.
It can be said without any doubt that the ‘Battle of Winterfell’ is one of the best episodes in the whole series. The makers of Game Of Thrones has always created terrific war episodes. They are raw and real and depict the brutality and despair with great detail and goosebumps effect. The latest addition is no different.
The whole episode is a master class in filming an epic war sequence. The way it is set, an atmosphere is created, edited to capture the various characters, without ever feeling rushed or cumbersome alone makes it a must watch. The over one hour stretch feels like ending in a jiffy. The problem, if at all, was that makers took the darkness literally and one couldn’t sometimes decipher what’s happening amidst all the mayhem.
Coming to what happens with various characters, as expected there are a couple of fatalities with one sure to make fans weep. But, more than anything the climax of the whole exercise is going to stay with fans for a long time. Without spoiling anything, all we would like to say is that it is sure to be heart-pounding experience involving the ‘Starks’.
Now that the biggest threat is supposedly done with, where does the narrative lead is everyone’s guess. More twists are expected on the way. Watch this space for further details.
