Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi starrer ‘Gatta Kusthi’ hit theatres on 2nd December to positive reviews and audience reception. Touted as a Sports film, Gatta Kusthi is a bilingual wrestling film and also titled as Matti Kusthi in telugu. Gatta Kusthi joins The Great Indian Kitchen, Darlings and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey when it comes to tackling patriarchy. Binged reported earlier that the digital rights of Gatta Kusthi are with Netflix India. The film finally has a Netflix release date. Gatta Kusthi streams on Netflix India from 1st January, 2022 onwards.
Gatta Kusthi follows Veera, a male chauvinist, as he seeks a bride with his own preconceived set of conditions. However, he unexpectedly ends up marrying Keerthi who is the polar opposite to his expectations. What will happen when the truth is revealed? This forms the major conflict in the film.
Gatta Kusthi has drama, romance, laughter and action and is being unanimously lauded for being the right amalgamation of action, comedy and progressive politics. Aishwarya Lekshmi’s performance was also unanimously lauded.
Gatta Kusthi/Matti Kusthi is directed by debutante Chella Ayyavu. Bankrolled by Vishnu Vishal’s own production house Vishnu Vishal Studioz in association with “Mass Maharaja” Ravi Teja’s RT Teamworks, Gatta Kusthi is based on a popular wrestling form in Kerala : ‘Kusthi’ aka ‘mud wrestling’. The film’s music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran. Gatta Kusthi streams on Netflix India from January st onwards.
