Actor Vishnu Vishal is back after his successful stint in the 2022 action thriller FIR. This time the actor is bringing a sports film for the audience. Admittedly the biggest film of his career so far, Gatta Kusthi is a bilingual wrestling film starring Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi in lead roles. The film hits the theatres on December 2nd and the makers dropped the official theatrical trailer today.

From the looks of it Gatta Kusthi looks like a film where there is drama, romance, laughter and action. Surprisingly it’s not just the hero who is flexing his muscles here, the heroine is a Kusthi ( a wrestling sport famous in Kerala) champion herself. The trailer reminded us of Basil Joseph directorial Godha and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya He in parts as well with a typical regressive male lead and an empowered female lead. Vishnu Vishal and Aishwarya Lekshmi have chemistry too.
Titled as Gatta Kusthi in Tamil and Matti Kusthi in Telugu, the film is directed by Chella Ayyavu in his feature film debut. The film was was announced in the month of April is now ready for release. Bankrolled by the actor’s own production house Vishnu Vishal Studioz in association with “Mass Maharaja” Ravi Teja’s RT Teamworks, Gatta Kusthi is said to be based on a popular wrestling form in Kerala.
It is also notable that Gatta Kusthi is Vishnu Vishal’s third sports film for the actor after Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Jeeva.The film’s music is composed by Justin Prabhakaran. Prasanna G.K. handles the editing and Richard M Nathan handles the cinematography. While it’s still not official, Netflix India has apparently acquired the digital rights of the film. Let’s hope for Gatta Kusthi to be a good surprise package entertainer.
