The first look clip of Gen V Season 1 showed several direct connections to the series that procreated it, The Boys. Also, Prime Video recently released one of the spinoff’s official posters, featuring a bronze statue of the one and the only, Homelander. However, the poster did not have Homelander’s face. Instead, we can see some smoke where his head should have been. Many fans have theorized that only one character is responsible for this scenario, Golden Boy, played by Patrick Schwarzenegger.
Golden Boy is a popular student at Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, a property of Vought International. Being a fire manipulator, he is one of the strongest supes in his university. The character of Golden Boy is often considered a parody of Marvel’s Human Torch. So, we should expect some wildness from Schwarzenegger’s Golden Boy in the upcoming show.
Several characters from the original series are expected to appear in Gen V, such as A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) and the new CEO of Vought International, Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie). According to some rumours, Jensen Ackles may have a cameo appearance in the show as Soldier Boy. But there is no sign of Homelander appearing in the show.
Golden Boy bears some resemblances with the sociopathic and image-concerned Homelander. In addition, we should expect Schwarzenegger’s character to have ambitions about matching or surpassing Homelander’s superhero status in the eyes of the public. Although, we do not know if he has the same sociopathic characteristics as Antony Starr’s character. Still, he seems like a perfect replacement for Homelander.
Prime Video has not yet revealed Gen V’s release window. The show is expected to come out in late 2023. Apart from Patrick Schwarzenegger, the series has Jaz Sinclair, Chance Perdomo, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, Sean Patrick Thomas, Jason Ritter, and many more talents. You can stream all seasons of The Boys on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates.
