‘Get Set Baby’ Riding On Unni Mukundan’s New Found Fame?

After delivering a blockbuster in ‘Marco’, Unni Mukundan has shot to national level fame and now that his next film ‘Get Set Baby’ is in theatres the expectations are really high.

As per the initial critical and public response, ‘Get Set Baby’ is getting a mixed response. The film is said to be a decent family drama which is simple yet engaging and entertaining in its own way. The performances from Unni Mukundan and Nikhila have been praised alongside Vinay Govind’s direction. Sam CS’s music backs the film well.

On the other hand, many viewers also think ‘Get Set Baby’ has its flaws and isn’t as remarkable as expected. The issues noted include poor dialogue delivery, exaggeration in places with a routine and dragged out script.

Overall, ‘Get Set Baby’ is turning out to be an average film with nothing much exciting or thrilling about it. Infact, some in the audience believe it was better suited for a direct-to-digital release instead of theatrical.

That raises the question, if Unni Mukundan wasn’t coming high on ‘Marco’s’ massive recent success would ‘Get Set Baby’ even be in so much talks? Is it riding only on his new found fame across the nation?

Moreover, why does any film, for that matter, has to revolve around the star power more than the performances in it. Whether ‘Get Set Baby’ is genuinely good or bad should be judged on how the film does on screens and not be a topic of discussion because a rather famous actor stars in it.

Big stars do add gravity to the film but it is high time we evolve as an audience and judge our films better based on their actual worth including factors like script, direction, screenplay, performances, music, editing and other technical aspects.
