Ghoomer Trailer Promises A Heartwarming & Inspiring Sports Drama

R. Balki, who directed last year’s critically acclaimed psychological thriller movie ‘Chup: Revenge of the Artist’, is all set for his next directorial feature film project – ‘Ghoomer’. The sports drama is slated to be released in theatres on 18th August. It features Saiyami Kher, Abhishek Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, and Angad Bedi in important roles. And today, the makers have unveiled the film’s trailer. Let’s see what it tells us about the film.

The whole ‘Ghoomer’ trailer is narrated by Abhishek Bachchan’s character and showcases how a female Indian cricketer played by Saiyami Kher loses her dominant hand after an accident. That’s when a down and out coach steps in and trains the dejected cricket player about how to use her left hand and instills in her hope to play for the Indian cricket team again.

The underlying story of ‘Ghoomer’ revolves around how a paraplegic sports person performs and aspires to become a champion under the guidance of her eccentric coach despite all odds. Saiyami Kher has essayed the role of a paraplegic bowler and the ‘Guru’ actor Abhishek Bachchan will be seen in the role of the cricket coach. The film is inspired by the incredible story of the late Hungarian shooter who had won two Olympic medals after his right hand was seriously injured. And the film’s trailer promises a heartwarming and inspiring sports drama with earnest performances. And guess what: there is a special appearance by the legend himself – Amitabh Bachchan!

Before its theatrical release in India, ‘Ghoomer’ will first be showcased at the Indian Film festival of Melbourne on 12th August. Considering the fact that R. Balki’s directorial filmography consists of emotionally resonant films like ‘Paa’ and ‘Pad Man’, expectations are high from ‘Ghoomer’ as well.
