As the days are passing it is clear that Netflix’s new anthology series Ghost Stories is not going to turn out a viral craze like Lust Stories. It is despite the presence of some well notable names behind the project.
First of all, the four stories have come under the scanner for not having anything “scary” or involving “ghosts” in a genuine sense. They all took a psychological route and stuck with it. The lack of the obvious and the missing straightforwardness meant the Ghost Stories had fewer takers.
The four stories were handled by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar. Among them, only Dibakar Benerjee managed to get a positive response from the audience within the psychological terrain. Zoya Akhtar’s was the next best. The rest two were disappointing.
The many actors too didn’t shine here unlike the Lust Stories, which almost made the careers of a couple of artists. Still, despite the lack of critical success, Ghost Stories is the most talked-about digital movie in the first few days of the New Year. The marketing leading up to the release has done the trick.
