First reactions to Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire have surfaced on social media following its world premiere on March 14 at Lincoln Square, NYC. And they are not very satisfying. Critics who got the chance to watch the film have declared Frozen Empire as an entertaining mess. The film has its moments, but it is overstuffed with too many plotlines and characters.
Serving as a sequel to Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), Frozen Empire revolves around the Spengler family who leaves Summerville, Oklahoma, to return to where it all started – the amazing New York City firehouse. The family and Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd) decide to aid the OG Ghostbusters, who have developed a high-tech lab to bust down the ghosts for good. However, their strength and expertise get tested after an ancient artifact unleashes its evil powers in the real world. All Ghostbusters must work together to save the world from a second Ice Age.
On Rotten Tomatoes, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire stands at a ‘rotten’ rating of 43% based on 49 certified reviews. Given the film’s poor initial reception, the score may further go down after its worldwide theatrical release.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Annie Potts, Dan Aykroyd, and more. It will come out in theatres globally on March 22. Stay tuned for more updates.

I'm ambivalent this franchise (y'all hold on to things too deeply), I had fun with GHOSTBUSTERS: FROZEN EMPIRE. It doesn't all work, but it does feel like an episode of the cartoon come to life. Too much nostalgic navel gazing tho. Review Friday on @FilmBlerds#Ghostbusters pic.twitter.com/C5TG14V28N

#GhostbustersFrozenEmpire is an entertaining but frustrating mixed bag. Stripping the family drama from Afterlife and substituting for a saturday cartoon delight (which is fun) Ghost are great, Grace is AWESOME, I had fun but I wanted more... pic.twitter.com/x5hQYd67YC

Without well-drawn characters, meaningful sentiments & concise conflicts, there’s not much holding #GhostbustersFrozenEmpire together but the hope that unsuspecting audiences will readily accept mediocrity. My review via @FreshFictionTV: https://t.co/JIEVzoG27P
