The events of Spider-Man: No Way Home opened the Multiverse and we saw Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Now, fans want to know if they will ever see the actor reprising his iconic superhero character of Professor X in future. The current MCU timeline does not have a Professor X. It means that the door is open for Stewart to reprise his role. But he is not the only contender for that job. Breaking Bad fame Giancarlo Esposito has also expressed his desire to portray the same character on the big screen.
In a TikTok video of user @countdowncitygeeks, Esposito confirmed that he is indeed in talks with Marvel:
“So, I have not worked for Marvel yet. I’ve been in a room with them and talked with them, and to answer your question, I think what they do is on the lines of that mythological journey that Joe Campbell talked about, who happened to be a friend of George Lucas that George Lucas put into his stories. They do the same thing.”
Esposito added that he wanted to play Professor X in the video, “So, there’s been talk of Magneto, there’s been talk of Dr Freeze, there has been talk of, who else are they talking about over there? Oh, Doom! And there is Professor X. Pick one? I’m going to go for something that is a little bit different. I’m going to go and put it out in the universe that it is Professor X.”
Marvel Studios owned this year’s SDCC event by making grand announcements, including the announcements of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, scheduled to premiere in 2025. It seems like fans have to wait long for a live-action X-Men film. However, we know how Marvel likes to tease the fans with mid-credits and post-credits scenes. Giancarlo Esposito may appear in one of these scenes in future MCU projects. Who knows? Stay tuned for more updates.
