Gladiator 2 Trailer: Paul Mescal Faces Pedro Pascal In An Epic Battle

It’s time to fight again as Paramount has dropped the official trailer for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator 2, featuring the likes of Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, and more.

The long-awaited sequel to Gladiator (2000), led by Russell Crowe, will arrive in theatres across the globe on November 22.

Mescal plays Lucius, son of Lucilla (Nielsen) and nephew of former king Commodus (played by Joaquin Phoenix in the first movie). Spencer Treat Clark played the character’s child version in the 2000 film.

Gladiator 2 takes place years after the events of the first movie. Lucilla decides to send Lucius to Numidia (Africa) to keep him away from the reach of the Roman Empire. As years pass by, we see Lucius turning into a skilled and ferocious warrior. He later turns into a gladiator after meeting Macrinus (Washington), a power broker who uses his stable of gladiators to win rewards from the Roman Empire. The sequel’s events will bring back Lucius to Rome and reunite him with his mother. Pascal portrays Marcus Acacius, one of the Roman generals who were trained by Maximus.

Harry Gregson-Williams replaces Hans Zimmer for Gladiator 2’s musical score. Written by David Scarpa, this Ridley Scott directional has been made on a staggering budget of $310 million. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the new trailer below!
