Gladiator is intertwined with the word “Gladiator life,” which is famous for its simplicity, but the budget of a film on this manages to draw a completely contradictory conclusion. Ridley Scott’s Gladiator managed to be a cult classic for years, and as there were talks of a sequel, the hype grew immensely.
Gladiator 2’s budget is out through some official channels, and it is even more shocking than the film itself. As of now, the film previously had a budget of $165M, but that is about to skyrocket; it has now reached the heights of $310M.
For comparison, Barbie and Oppenheimer, together, had a production budget of $245M, which leaves room for another mid-budget film. Even shifting from reel to real life, three Chandrayaan 3 space missions can be executed with that sort of money.
Even some insider Paramount sources stated that their expenditure isn’t being monitored, “It’s a runaway. It’s not being managed.”
Even some stated that the seven-week-long shoot for Gladiator 2 cost around a whopping $250M, but again, there is less official basis.
The budget for Gladiator 2 soared due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, costing $600,000 weekly during the shutdown. Reports suggested Ridley Scott continued filming with extras in Malta during the strike. Despite setbacks like a stunt accident and PETA concerns, studio executives are optimistic about the film’s progress.
