The popular monster thriller ’Godzilla Minus One’ color version will soon be available to watch in India. It is going to premiere on Netflix on the 1st day of August.
The movie is written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki and it stars actors like Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, Kuranosuke Sasaki and more. The Japanese production is one of the biggest international hits to come from the country in recent years.
As the original version of the movie had already been streaming on OTT, the Black & White version caused quite a stir as well. But this ‘Godzilla Minus One – Color’ was created with the intention to keep Godzilla’s atomic breath in color even though the rest of the movie stays in Black and White. It was inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s technique used in the crime thriller ‘High And Low’ where the whole movie was filmed in Black and white but there was a smoke scene where colors were used. The idea was rejected initially but then frames of various matte and colors were used to create the new version.
This is a huge creative endeavor that will be hailed by cinephiles all over the world. We have previously seen with a movie as colourful as ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was praised highly when it had a black and white release.
