Nominations for the Golden Globe Awards 2020 were announced yesterday, and unsurprisingly, Netflix’s Original movie, Marriage Story, leads the pack in nominations.
It has won 6 nominations, including Best Drama, Actor and Actress.
What is surprising is that, though The Irishman won 5 nominations, including Best Supporting Actors for both Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, Robert De Niro was ignored for the Best Actor award.
Other Netflix properties that won nominations include The Two Popes, Dolemite Is My Name, The Crown, and Unbelievable.
Again unsurprisingly, Amazon Prime comedies, The Marvellous Mrs Maisel and Fleabag, won nominations for Best Comedy Series.
Hard-hitting mini-series Chernobyl won 4 nominations.
Apple TV Plus made its debut in the nominations with 3 for The Morning Show – 2 Best Actress nominations for both its leading ladies, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, and Best TV series, Drama.
The Golden Globe Awards show will take place on January 5, 2020, and will air in India on the morning of January 6.
