BBC has won the broadcasting rights to Studio Ramsay’s (World Renowned Celebrity Chef Gordon Ramsay’s studio) game show idea after a heated competitive pitch. While Gordon Ramsay has been a host for multiple cooking shows such as ‘Masterchef’ and ‘Hell’s Kitchen’, this will be the first time Ramsay will be hosting a game show.
Titled ‘Bank Balance’, the new series is set up to test the nerves and knowledge of the contestants on the show, with the chance to big win and lose even bigger. Much of the show’s premise has been shrouded in mystery, but the new game series has been described to be a high-stakes competition with participants having to constantly battle between their greed and strategy.
Ramsay has been absolutely raving about the to-be-series already citing it to be epic. A fierce competition with so much danger of losing everything you won in a single move (or vice-versa); where you are constantly dealing with the swings of big gains and massive losses is going to get nuttily intense. Gordon Ramsay adds that he is happy to work with the BBC team and he can not wait to get into the studio and start racking up gold bars.
The game show pitch was put forth by Studio Ramsay’s Fernando De Jesus, Tom Day, Sam Smaïl and Bronson Payne. Gordon Ramsay and chief creative officer Lisa Edwards will act as the show’s executive producers. BBC’s Controller of Entertainment Commissioning Kate Phillips has admitted that it is “fantastic” to have Ramsay hosting this new prime time competition which will entertain viewers while testing the nerves, accuracy and knowledge of the competitors. The show is set to go into production this year.
