Grey’s Anatomy has been going strong for 17 seasons now and has been one of the most prominent medical dramas throughout its inception. It has helped us getter a better look at the trials and tribulations that have to be faced by doctors in their professional as well as their personal lives.
In a shock twist Andrew DeLuca one of the beloved doctors was killed in an act of bravery. This is one of those rare occasions when the creators of the show have chosen to kill another essential character. Andrew DeLuca started as an intern at the end of season 11 and though things weren’t always smooth with everyone, he eventually won them over.
He was also recently involved in a romantic relationship with Meredith Grey on the show. De Luca was killed when he tried to follow a suspected drug kingpin Opal. While this may have been an emotional moment for many of the viewers who were used to his presence for close to six seasons now it also highlights a very important issue that is subtly prevailing in our society.
Human trafficking is a rampant global issue and has cost a lot of people dearly. Imagine what it must be like for those loved ones who have to go through such an ordeal. Giacomo Gianniotti who plays the character of Andrew DeLuca on-screen also shared that he was touched by how well the fans have received the issue that was targeted here. His reel version died an honourable death and did the right thing and it is good to see shows like Grey’s Anatomy that have such a big reach trying to put out a social message against all the vices in society and the people who are behind them.
