Griselda On Netflix: Super Strong Response To Female Mobsters

Netflix’s consistency can definitely be compared to Virat Kohli’s class, though both of them went through a rough patch throughout their careers, they show why they are the best at what they do. And this time, Netflix’s miniseries Griselda is getting all the praise.

So, what’s the deal?

A Narcos-like series and that too based on Colombia’s own Griselda Blanco is at the center of attraction. Previously, it was reported that the son of Blanco did file a lawsuit on January 17th against Netflix and Sofía Vergara. The plan was to hit it with a bit of delay but as of now, the audience is enjoying the series.

The series is created by the brilliant minds behind Narcos and Narcos: Mexico, and this time, it centers around Griselda Blanco. And if you need context, then Pablo Escobar’s appreciation would be enough, “The only man I was ever afraid of was a woman named Griselda Blanco.”

The series does focus on the main character build-up of Griselda, and that too without glorifying her actions, without making her a ‘hero’. And in terms of storytelling as well, it is much different than Narcos. Narcos mostly feels like a documentary with some essence of fiction, but Griselda has some different elements.

Griselda’s storytelling has much fiction added to it, but it doesn’t make you feel that way. Plus, Sofía Vergara practically nails the role. She recently commented that her accent doesn’t let her experiment with various roles, but if she can pull off something like this, she doesn’t need variety.

People do love their drug lord-centric series, and the recent rise of the female-centric series is definitely bringing a massive change from the Narcos and Breaking Bad scenario.

Even in India, Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo created a good hype last year. Netflix’s own Queen of the South (2016) received a good response, and now Griselda’s positive review, Netflix possibly has cracked the code for some ‘addictive’ series.

Griselda is currently streaming on Netflix and if you haven’t checked the trailer out, click below-
