One of Netflix‘s most popular dramas, which has been trending at the top spot in most countries is getting a remake. Fans of K Pop and La Casa De Papel also known as Money Heist are in for a visual treat as the Spanish are in talks for a remake in South Korea. Korean production company BH Entertainment and its production agency ZIUM Contents are pushing for a remake version of Money Heist. They have already begun the process, discussing with Netflix and are in the stage of development. But whether it will stick to the original story line or move away from it remains uncertain.
Interestingly, Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, is also working on the Spanish web series for a Hindi film. According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan will play the role of the professor, which in the original series is essayed by 45-year-old Spanish actor Alvaro Morte. The show has gone to win several Emmy Awards and we wonder which other country is eyeing to adapt the series for its audiences.
Money Heist revolves around the central character Sergio “El Profesor” who recruits eight criminals and trains them to illegally mint 2.4 billion euros from the Royal Mint of Spain. The series has aired four seasons with a total of 31 episodes so far. With the world facing a lockdown, according to a television analytics firm Parrot Analytics, Money Heist was one of the most watched shows across the world. In fact, the show is 31.75 times more in demand than the average series globally, beating out such perennially popular series as Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Westworld. Clearly, the world cannot get enough of El Profesor and his band of misfits!
