Gunn Conforms DCU Project Release Window

DC is indeed transitioning from DCEU to DCU with the release of Aquaman putting the final nail in the coffin. As time passes, excitement grows with the question, ‘What’s Next?’

James Gunn announced the first slate of DCU projects, some big and with bigger questions. People expected a Batman or Superman to kick off the franchise, but that was the conventional style of the old DC.

The most interesting project now is Superman Legacy, not another origin story but Superman’s tale on balancing his human and Kryptonian sides, confirmed for a 2025 release.

The question arises, when will the new universe kick off? Gunn, active in threads, responded to a fan asking about Creature Commandos, hinting at a late 2024 release.

Gunn stated, “Animation will lead into live action and back into animation,” explaining it’s a cost-effective way to tell gigantic stories. DC’s upcoming unified universe, Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters, starts with Creature Commandos. This chapter includes TV shows like Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and Booster Gold. Peacemaker season 2 is also part of this chapter, confirmed by Gunn.

DC fans are in for an exciting time as the reboot offers a fresh start. While DC had a strong cast, maintaining a proper storyline is crucial for success, a lesson they can learn from Marvel.
