Gunn’s Superman Legacy Goes Through A Name Change

Nah, we’re not talking about Superman being Clark Kent and vice versa; that would be too cliché. But during a recent set of events, as Gunn starts filming the project on February 29th, he informs of a massive change.

According to official reports, Superman Legacy will not be called just Superman, short and sweet.

While wishing Superman a happy birthday, Gunn posted on Threads, “Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday.”

Later, he mentioned that when he completed the initial draft of the script, the film was referred to as ‘Superman: Legacy.’ However, as they finalized the draft, it became evident that the title would simply be “SUPERMAN.” He also noted that they are on track to release it in July 2025.

Now, this change will definitely help the advertisement of the film, especially when it comes to directing the fans to the theaters. Plus, “Superman” just sounds cooler and more premium when you talk about the importance of the film.

With the title change, Gunn also shared a close-up look of the Superman costume. Though the crest is different, the shade of the costume is almost the same as Cavill’s Superman costume.

And Gunn himself has started the countdown; June 2025, the world will be watching as Superman tries to save DC one more time.
