Guy Ritchie In Talks To Direct Road House 2

We always knew Road House 2 would eventually surface after the grand success of its 2024 predecessor—even if that film was a complete mess. According to a report from prominent scooper Matthew Belloni, Amazon MGM Studios is serious about developing the sequel, with Jake Gyllenhaal returning as Dalton. This time, Guy Ritchie may be in the director’s chair.

Wait, what? Yes, him! According to Belloni’s newsletter, Guy Ritchie is reportedly in talks to direct Road House 2 for Amazon MGM, with Jake Gyllenhaal set to reprise his role and Will Beall writing the script. While a deal wasn’t finalised in time for CinemaCon, negotiations are ongoing.

What happened to Doug Liman? He helmed the first entry—and did a kind of strange job with it. While the performances, action, and fight sequences under his direction were praised, the movie’s storyline and lack of emotional depth received major criticism.

Despite Road House becoming a record-breaking success for Prime Video in terms of viewership, Liman was reportedly upset with Amazon MGM for not giving the movie a grand theatrical release. That may be one of the primary reasons we’re now seeing Guy Ritchie as Liman’s likely replacement for the sequel. Amazon has not commented on the matter.

In addition to Jake Gyllenhaal, the movie also featured talents such as Daniela Melchior, Billy Magnussen, Jessica Williams, Joaquim de Almeida, JD Pardo, Austin Post, and Conor McGregor.

Road House found its audience on streaming, as its simple, fun nature didn’t quite justify a theatrical release. It was a big, dumb movie that was entertaining in parts—and that worked well for home viewing. Stay tuned for more updates.
