Guy Ritchie Re-Unites With Disney for ‘Hercules’ Live Action Adaptation!

Guy Ritchie gets back on his live-action Fantasy-adventure train once again after his ‘Aladdin’ that came out in 2019. This time he reunites with Disney for a live action film based on the 1997 Disney animated film ‘Hercules’. And we can’t keep calm!

The Hercules live action adaptation is said to be produced by AGBO, the production company owned by ‘Avengers: Endgame’ fame directors Joe & Anthony Russo. Dave Callaham wrote the first draft and Disney is currently in the process of hiring more writers for the film.

The 1997 Disney film was based on the legendary hero Heracles (Roman name is Hercules), the son of Zeus, in the Greek Mythology. The story follows Hercules, who is turned into a half-god, half-mortal by the evil Hades. Hercules eventually discovers his immortal heritage and Zeus asks him to return to Mount Olympus.

The live-action remake of Hercules was in news since April 2020. Post Russo brothers’ involvement in the film, it was said that the remake will not be a “literal translation” as the makers want the film to have freshness to it alongside being “something that’s in the vein of the original and inspired by it”.

Ritchie recently shot an untitled action thriller with Jake Gyllenhaal and has ‘Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre’ starring Jason Statham, written, directed and exec produced by himself. If the box office success of Aladdin is to go by, the film could be his second billion-dollar grossing film after Aladdin.
