While no one else believes her, her ex astronaut partner and a conspiracy theorist are the only ones on her side. With a team of misfits in place, it is now time to save the earth.
The movie was announced in 2019, and the cast joined in 2020. With an aim to complete the shoot by early 2021, it was waiting for an October 2021 release, but the pandemic pushed everything back. Now with few shots still filming and post production in place, the movie is set for the February release next year.
The movie’s US distribution rights were brought in by Lionsgate, while AGC Studios have acquired the movie’s international distribution rights. Emmerich has not only directed this epic sci-fi slash disaster movie but has also penned the scripts along with Harald Kloser and Spenser Cohen. Emmerich and Kloser are also onboard as the producers for the film.
The movie was made on a budget of around $150 million, making it one of the most expensive movies to be made so far. Ronald Emmerich has earlier helmed some extremely major movies like Independence Day, The Day After Tomorrow, The Patriot and Midway. With such movies in hand, one can understand and see that “Moonfall” too will be nothing less than extraordinary.
