The birth of OTT was to give those creators a chance who were marginalized in the traditional cinema space. It indeed happened and we got things like Panchayat, Aspirants, Scam 1992 and many more.
One filmmaker who has stood out as one of the best in the entire industry is undoubtedly Hansal Mehta. The man has given mammoth blockbusters and near perfect series like Scam 1992 and Scoop.
He has exposed one very ugly face of the OTT industry that needed to be called out by one of the insiders.
Remember all the hulla bulla that was unleashed after “All We Imagine As Light” was not sent for the Oscars?
Well, looks like the OTT platforms are deliberately not considering anything after that. Hansal Mehta had claimed according to his sources that no one is willing to buy the film on OTT.
He also wished that his information was wrong but it needs to be ruminated upon.
Why are the OTT platforms so hostile towards great but small films?
We think that the audience will be dying to watch the movie on OTT just like they did with “Laapata Ladies” and “Three of Us”.
What do you think about it?
We think that it is a very very sad thing and films like “All We Imagine As Light” must get recognition from OTT platforms.
