Director Hansal Mehta and homegrown OTT platform SonyLIV are coming together for a new project after their super-successful debut collaboration, Scam 1992. The project in question is a web series on a thrilling subject – the untold story of the origins of the Research And Analysis Wing of India, aka R&AW. For those who don’t know, the Research And Analysis Wing of India is the premier intelligence agency of the country.
SonyLIV and Hansal Mehta’s web series on R&AW is adapted from RK Yadav’s book, ‘Mission R&AW’. The series will chronicle the origin of the R&AW, along with the exploits of its first ever chief, Rameshwar Nath Kao. The story will be set in the backdrop of escalating tensions with India’s neighbours, hostile and otherwise. The SonyLIV show will also showcase covert intelligence operations of those times, and how several of these strategies and actions have shaped the geopolitics of our region.
Mission R&AW by RK Yadav is one of the most comprehensive books on India’s premier intelligence agency, and its operations. This series will be a compelling discovery of what it takes in the background to keep India safe and some real heroes of our nation who deserve to be celebrated. Rameshwar Nath Kao was known to be a genius, about whom very little is known. The new show will be eye-opening in more ways than one. Interestingly, RK Yadav is a former R&AW officer himself, which lends utmost authenticity and credibility to his book.
SonyLIV and Hansal Mehta’s R&AW show is produced by Prabhleen Kaur Sandhu, under his production house, Almighty Motion Pictures. Karan Vyas is adapting RK Yadav’s book for the screen. Vyas is also the writer of Hansal Mehta and SonyLIV’s Scam 1992.
