Streaming giant Disney Plus Hotstar today announced the release date of its much awaited new original series, ‘Lootere’. The series will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on 22nd March, 2024.
First announced back in 2021, ‘Lootere’ was earlier titled ‘Pirates’. The series comes from stellar director Hansal Mehta, who is the showrunner of Lootere. Jai Mehta is helming ‘Lootere’. The series will capture the havoc unleashed by the notorious Somalian pirates in the waters of the Indian Ocean. It is a subject never attempted before by anyone in the Indian entertainment industry.
The plot centres on a large Indian commercial ship that is hijacked by Somalian pirates. The show will also shine a spotlight on the anguish that the loved ones of the crew go through back home, and how stakeholders strive to secure the freedom of the men out at sea.
The cast of ‘Lootere’ comprises an eclectic cast of Vivek Gomber, Deepak Tijori, Rajat Kapoor, Tuks Tad Lungu, Nareshh Mallik, and Amruta Khanvilkar. The screenplay is by Jai Mehta, Vishal Kapoor, Suparn Varma, and Vaibhav Vishal. Shaailesh R Singh’s Karma Media And Entertainment is producing it.
