HanuMan, Maharani S3 Etc: Top Indian Titles On OTT This Week

It’s March already, and we’re wondering how time has just flown by in a jiffy. Wasn’t it just yesterday that the world was celebrating the start of a new year?

The first week of March packs in quite a punch on streaming, as far as Indian titles go. A slew of much-awaited Indian films make their way to various OTT platforms this week. Primary among them is the buzzy Telugu film Hanu-Man, which turned out to be a blockbuster hit at the start of the year.

There are also a couple of Hindi shows that will premiere on streaming this week, both being keenly anticipated ones.

1. Bachelor Party – Streaming Already, Kannada Movie, Prime Video
Kannada movie Bachelor Party comes from Rakshit Shetty, and stars Diganth, Achyuth Kumar and Yogesh in the lead roles. A hen-pecked husband lives it up in Bangkok, when he attends a bachelor party with his school mate.

2. Maharani Season 3 – 7th March, Hindi Series, Sony LIV
The third season of the political drama will see Rani Bharti fight back against rival Navin Babu with a resounding counter attack. Created by Subhash Kapoor. Starring Huma Qureshi, Amit Sial, Pramod Pathak, Kani Kusruti, Vineet Kumar.

3. Rani – 7th March, Malayalam Film, Manorama Max
Rani: The Real Story is an investigative mystery thriller film, written and directed by Shankar Ramakrishnan. A housemaid is accused for the high-profile murder of a powerful MLA, but strongly defended by three families for whom she works. It stars Urvashi, Indrans, Guru Somasundaram, Maniyanpilla Raju, Ashwin Gopinath, Ashwath Lal, Bhavana, Niyathi Kadambi, Honey Rose, Anumol, Maala Parvathy, among others.

4. Showtime – 8th March, Hindi Series, Disney Plus Hotstar
Emraan Hashmi plays the scion of an established filmy family in Bollywood, with Naseeruddin Shah as its patriarch. Along comes an upstart outsider, played by Mahima Makwana, who threatens to upset the cosy apple-cart. Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, Vijay Raaz, Lilette Dubey, Vishal Vashishtha, Neeraj Madhav, Gurpreet Saini, Denzil Smith, form the rest of the cast.

5. Anveshippin Kandethum – 8th March, Malayalam Film, Netflix
A relentless and upright police officer pursues the murder of a young woman, despite stiff opposition from powerful politicians, religious figures and his higher-ups. Starring Tovino Thomas.

6. Hanu-Man – 8th March, Telugu Film, ZEE5
HanuMan stars young actor Teja Sajja in the role of a simple boy-next-door, who is suddenly bestowed with the superpowers of Lord Hanuman. The film is set in the fictional town of Anjanadri, where the protagonist gets the powers of Hanuman and fights for Anjanadri. Directed by Prashanth Varma

7. Lal Salaam – 8th March, Tamil Film, Netflix
The film stars Rajinikanth in a cameo. It is set in the backdrop of cricket and follows the story of aspiring cricketers who are unfairly kicked off the team despite their talent. The film focuses on how unsavoury elements try to whip up Hindu – Muslim skirmishes for their own gains. Directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth.

8. Bogla Mama Jug Jug Jiyo – 8th March, Bengali Film, Hoichoi TV
The comedy film is directed by Dhrubo Banerjee and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films and Jio Studios. It is based on Rajkumar Maitra’s cartoon character, Bagalamama. The film stars Kharaj Mukherjee, Riddhi Sen, Rajatava Dutta, Aparajita Adhya and Ditipriya Roy.

9. Lover – 8th March, Tamil Film, Disney Plus Hotstar
Arun and Divya’s six-year relationship starts unraveling as they drift apart, raising the question of whether love can withstand such differences. Starring Manikandan, Sri Gouri Priya Reddy, Kanna Ravi Harish Kumar, Geetha Kailasam, Harini, Nikhila Shankar Arunachaleshwaran.

10. Merry Christmas – 8th March, Hindi-Tamil Film, Netflix
An atmospheric story where two strangers meet and spend time with each other on Christmas Eve. But each has a secret to hide. Directed by Sriram Raghavan. Starring Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak.

11. Shesh Pata – 8th March, Bengali Film, ZEE5
Shesh Pata is written and directed by Atanu Ghosh. The film stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Gargi Roychowdhury and Vikram Chatterjee. A well-known writer is offered ₹40,000 to write about his murdered actress wife, but he is unable to write even a single page. To recover the writing, the publishing house engages Sounak Hazra, a young debt recovery agent.

12. Sound Party – 8th March, Telugu Film, Aha Video
A father-son duo launches a family restaurant to get rich. But their dream dies when their eatery is shut down, and they are forced to face-off against a dreaded criminal. Written and directed by Sanjay Sheri. Starring VJ Sunny, Hrithika Srinivas and Sivannarayana.

13. Yatra 2 – 8th March, Telugu Film, Prime Video
The sequel to the well-received Yatra. Chief Minister Rajashekara Reddy (Mammootty) passes away tragically, which compels his son Jagan Mohan Reddy (Jiiva) to take over the reins of his political career. Starring Mammootty, Jiiva, Ketaki Narayan, Suzanne Bernert, Mahesh Manjrekar, Ashrita Vemuganti Nanduri. Directed by Mahi V Raghav.
