For fans of OG Disney Studios classics, it is common knowledge that Lindsay Lohan reigned over some of the earliest productions. Having delivered superhits like ‘Freaky Friday’, ‘The Parent Trap’, ‘Herbie: Fully Loaded’ and ‘Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen’, Lohan has immortalized herself as a Disney name.
To the utter joy of Disney fans, ‘Freaky Friday 2’ is officially in the works! With it’s debut in 2003, Jaime Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan starrer ‘Freaky Friday’ served as a heartfelt family comedy. The plotline was simple yet indulging: Things take a turn for Tess and her daughter Anna (who do not get along well) when in a freak incident, they switch bodies and are forced to live each other’s lives.
Curtis and Lohan both are in negotiations to reprise their roles as the mother-and-daughter combo. Not only that, they have expressed their desire to do so multiple times over the years.
For the project, the studio has tapped Nisha Ganatra, who most recently helmed episodes of Hulu miniseries ‘Welcome to Chippendales’ as the director.
It is, however, unclear whether the feature will be released theatrically or debuted on Disney+. Either way, it is going to be a sure-shot treat for Disney fanatics to see a timelessly classic plot and mother-daughter-duo reprised!
