Marvel’s latest web series ‘Moon Knight’ under the ambit of MCU’s Phase-4, and its sixth show to be precise, started streaming on the Disney+ and Disney+ Hotstar OTT platforms last Wednesday, that is, from 30th March 2022.
The show is being admired by the audiences and critics alike. For instance, ‘Moon Knight’ currently holds an impressive critics score of 87% on the reviews aggregation portal Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is even higher at 94%. Moreover, it holds a decent IMDb user rating of 7.5/10.
But when it comes to viewership stats of ‘Moon Knight’, how has the show fared compared to MCU’s last five series released so far namely ‘WandaVision’, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘Loki’, ‘What If…?’, and ‘Hawkeye’?
As per data analytics company Samba TV, a whopping number of 1.8 million US households had watched the opening episode of Marvel Studio’s ‘Moon Knight’ series in its first 5 days of streaming on the Disney Plus OTT platform.
But the golden question is: was the ‘Moon Knight’ premiere the most-watched episode compared to the above-mentioned MCU shows? The answer is no. Because it was the Tom Hiddleston starrer series ‘Loki’ that was watched by a massive 2.5 million US households during the first five days of its release.
Furthermore, ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, ‘WandaVision’, and ‘Hawkeye’ were watched by 1.8 million. 1.6 million, and 1.5 million US households during the same period. This means that while ‘Moon Knight’ is ahead of ‘WandaVision’ and ‘Hawkeye’, it’s at par with ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, but it’s behind ‘Loki’ by a significant margin in terms of 5-day premiere viewership.
The six-part show ‘Moon Knight’ revolves around a mercenary and ex-US marine named Marc Spector aka Moon Knight (played by Oscar Isaac), who is suffering from dissociative identity disorder condition and is bestowed with the powers of the Egyptian moon god. The series also features Ethan Hawke and May Calamawy in important roles.
