Hawkeye Directors Roped in for Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain Movie

Last year, British filmmakers Bert & Bertie had directed a significant chunk of Marvel Studios’ superhero series ‘Hawkeye’ for Disney Plus. And now, the duo has reportedly (via Deadline) been roped in to helm Disney’s upcoming feature film based on the popular Disney theme park attraction Big Thunder Mountain.

The Big Thunder Mountain is an Old West styled mine train roller coaster available at multiple locations across the globe. The Disneyland ride takes place amidst the backdrop of gold discovery in the late 1800s era in the American Southwest. The mining town became prosperous until tragedy struck the mountain by way of an earthquake / tsunami / flash flood depending on the park location.

This is not the first time a movie is being adapted from a famous Disney attraction. A fantastic example is that of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film series based on Walt Disney’s theme park attraction of the same name which grossed over a whopping $4.5 billion at the box office worldwide.

Other films based on Disney attractions include Brian De Palma’s sci-fi flick ‘Mission to Mars’, supernatural horror comedy movie ‘The Haunted Mansion’, George Clooney starrer sci-fi film ‘Tomorrowland’, and most recently the action-adventure film ‘Jungle Cruise’ starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt in the lead roles. Moreover, another ‘Haunted Mansion’ film and a ‘Jungle Cruise’ sequel are also in the works.

Coming back to Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain movie, it’s being produced by veteran filmmaker Ridley Scott and ‘The Suicide Squad’ actress Margot Robbie through their respective production houses. The film is presently under scripting stage, so the precise plotline is not known as of now. Stay tuned to Binged for the latest updates on Disney’s Big Thunder Mountain movie.
