HBO Debuts Barry Levinson’s “The Survivor” Trailer!

Barry Levinson directorial “The Survivor” starring Ben Foster is slated for an HBO/HBO Max release on April 27,2022 coinciding with the Holocaust Remembrance Day. The streamer unveiled it’s main trailer on Wednesday. The film had it’s premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2021.

The film bases itself on Alan Haft’s book titled “Harry Haft: Survivor of Auschwitz, Challenger of Rocky Marciano”. It follows the incredible true story of Haft (played Foster), who after being forced to Auschwitz, survived not only the horrors of the camp, but also the gladiator-like boxing matches he was forced to perform with fellow prisoners to entertain the nazis. Haft’s will to survive every obstacle and suffering he was subjected to, came from his quest to reunite with his true-love.

Vicky Krieps, Billy Magnussen, Peter Sarsgaard, Saro Emirze, Dar Zuzovsky, Danny DeVito and John Leguizamo form the main-cast of the film alongside Ben Foster. Justine Juel Gillmer penned the script. Besides being provided access to a detailed testimony from Haft that was filmed in 2007 and preserved within USC Shoah Foundation’s Visual History Archive, USC Shoah Foundation also aided the team in historical consulting. The film is produced by New Mandate Films and BRON Studios in association with Baltimore Pictures and Endeavor Content.
