HBO’s It’s a Sin is another endearing title from the creators of Queer as Folk (UK). It shows us the journey of some young friends who are trying to navigate their life with all its ups and downs in the party hub and liberal London where they do not have to be suffocated by social taboo or glaring eyes.
The 1980s was a time of change and revolution. Change is never easy because we have to deal with a lot of differences in our surroundings and our environment. With all the knowledge and exposure that is available to us now, it is pretty easy to have an open conversation about homosexuality or other social practices today but the 80s were a different time.
HBO’s It’s a Sin takes us on this roller coaster ride where a few youths filled with the excitement to live life on their own terms break away from families and loved ones and come to London where they can be open about their identities without having to fear anyone or anything.
They are busy living their lives to the fullest when a mysterious pandemic starts killing young boys and girls. The AIDS pandemic created quite the buzz and a lot of misinformation was spread in the name of it which usually targeted marginal communities.
HBO’s It’s a Sin has a host of big names like Neil Patrick Harris, Stephen Fry, Olly Alexander, and Lydia West that play key roles in this series. The project is directed by Peter Hoar.
HBO’s It’s a Sin will stream on HBO Max on 18th February.
