HBO’s House Of The Dragon: Fiery New Trailer, Character Posters Out!

HBO and HBO Max today launched a fiery new trailer for their hotly anticipated series, ‘House Of The Dragon‘. Along with the trailer, the platform also revealed character posters for the pivotal characters in the series. For the uninitiated, House Of The Dragon is a prequel series to ‘Game Of Thrones’, the most successful series of all time on HBO. House Of The Dragon releases on HBO and HBO Max on 21st August, 2022. In India, the series is likely to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar, also the home of Game Of Thrones in India.

The new House Of The Dragon trailer drops familiar names right at the beginning – the Baratheons and Starks pledge allegiance to House Targaryen. Then begin conspiracies, betrayals and the shedding of blood – all that was the hallmark of Game Of Thrones. And there are dragons, we see at least two in the new trailer.

The character posters are stark and stunning, rendered in fiery hues of black, gold, red and orange. The colours are perfectly in sync with the book that the series is based on, George R. R. Martin’s ‘Fire And Blood’. They instantly catch the eye, drawing attention to the characters they reveal.

Nine character posters reveal the prominent members of House Targaryen, the most powerful House in Westeros. The character posters acquaint us with Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen: The fifth king of the Seven Kingdoms; Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen; Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen; Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King; Olivia Cooke as Lady Alicent Hightower, his daughter; Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, the “Sea Snake”; Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon; Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole; and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria, Prince Daemon’s most trusted ally.

House Of The Dragon is set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones. The series chronicles the beginning of the end of House Targaryen, the events leading up to the Targaryen civil war, known as the “Dance of the Dragons”, and the war itself.
