HBO’s ‘House of the Dragon’ Has an Interesting Indian Connection

The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel series ‘House of the Dragon’ is in terrific form, particularly after the latest Episode-8 started streaming on HBO Max and in India on the Disney+ Hotstar OTT platform. The massively mounted show’s eighth episode titled ‘The Lord of the Tides’ has become the highest rated episode so far on IMDb with an impressive user rating of 9.5/10.

And with the arrival of ‘House of the Dragon’ Episode-8, came to light an interesting and important Indian connection. And the connection is that the season’s eighth episode has been directed by Illinois-born Indian origin filmmaker Geeta Vasant Patel (from Gujarat). Prior to ‘House of the Dragon’, the Emmy-nominated filmmaker has directed several documentaries including ‘Meet the Patels’ and episodes of TV shows like ‘The Great’, ‘The Mindy Project’, and ‘Fresh Off the Boat’, amongst others.

With ‘House of the Dragon’ Episode-8 turning out to be the show’s highest rated episode on IMDb, it will certainly give the Indian origin director Geeta Vasant Patel’s filmmaker career in Hollywood a big boost and significant credibility.

The ‘House of the Dragon’ series is based on George R. R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel ‘Fire & Blood’ and the goings-on takes place around two centuries before the events of ‘Game of Thrones’ and revolves around the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. Now, just two episodes titled ‘The Green Council’ and ‘The Black Queen’ are left to be aired for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season-1. House of the Dragon’ Season-1 will conclude on 24th October on Disney+ Hotstar in India.
