Bloodsport and Peacemaker meet again! The duo of Idris Elba and John Cena is set to reunite—this time in Prime Video’s Heads of State. The upcoming action comedy also stars the likes of Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Jack Quaid.
Heads of State comes from Nobody director Ilya Naishuller. DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran has co-produced the film alongside John Rickard.
The trailer for Heads of State kicks off with a meeting between the U.S. President (Cena)—a former Hollywood actor with a distinct style—and the U.K. PM (Elba), Sam Clarke. Their initial rivalry takes a dangerous turn when their private jet is attacked, launching them into a thrilling mission to confront a major security breach. The movie is scheduled to premiere on July 2.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas plays Noel Bisset, a highly skilled MI6 agent tasked with saving both world leaders. The Quantico actress is seen pulling off plenty of action, including impressive stunt sequences like sliding under a car and taking out a target seemingly out of nowhere.
Quaid’s character appears to be a helpful sidekick who assists Cena and Elba in escaping from the bad guys.
The supporting cast includes Carla Gugino, Paddy Considine, Stephen Root, and Sarah Niles.
The trailer teases a high-octane, action-packed film. This Prime Video movie also marks a reunion for Cena and Elba, who previously starred together in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad (2021). While both actors have appeared in the Fast & Furious franchise, they haven’t shared screen time in it.
The Heads of State trailer highlights the comedic chemistry between the two, both seasoned in the action-comedy genre. Check it out now!
