Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on the way to becoming legit producers and content creators – they have won their first Netflix series. The pair will create a docuseries on the commendable Invictus Games for the streaming giant under their production banner, Archewell Productions.
The docuseries is titled ‘Heart of Invictus’, and it will centre on a bunch of competitors in the Invictus Games, and their journey to getting a chance to participate in the games. The competitors featured in the docuseries will be chosen from across the world. ‘Heart Of Invictus’ will capture their journey from their hometowns to the Invictus Games The Hague, to be held in 2022.
For those not in the know, the ‘Invictus Games’ is an international multi-sport event, held especially for wounded, injured or sick service personnel from armed forces around the world, and army veterans. The sporting spectacle features nine sports, including wheelchair basketball, sitting volleyball, and indoor rowing – sports adapted to suit wheelchair-bound or otherwise-abled army men.
Prince Harry has been associated with the Invictus Games ever since they were launched in 2014. He has played a significant role in the launch of the games and is the primary patron of the games. Prince Harry has attended the Invictus Games every year without fail, and with fervent enthusiasm. It is perhaps fitting that his first ever Netflix series order should be a series capturing the essence and spirit of the Invictus Games.
Heart Of Invictus will be helmed by director Orlando von Einsiedel (The White Helmets), and produced by Joanna Natasegara for Archewell Productions. Prince Harry will executive produce the series.
‘Heart of Invictus’ will cast an eye on the training regimes of the competitors, their individual narratives and their stories of resilience and hope. It will also include episodes on the preparations that go into the organising of the Invictus Games, along with focusing on the support lent by the organisers to the competitors’ teams from various nations.
We at Binged had earlier informed our readers about the multi-year, multimillion-dollar deal signed between Netflix and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for original content from the former Royals.
“It’s been clear that the Invictus Games hold a very special place in the hearts of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and I couldn’t be happier that their first series for Netflix will showcase that for the world in a way never seen before,” said Ted Sarandos, Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer, Netflix.
