Heartstopper On Netflix: Why Is Everyone Raving About It?

If you’re the kind of person who gets their daily dose of entertainment news from social media, then there’s no chance you could have missed the clamour. The clamour surrounding Netflix’s ‘Heartstopper’, that is. For the uninitiated, ‘Heartstopper‘ is a coming-of-age series that arrives on Netflix worldwide on April 22. It’s also a series that has the young and restless ecstatic with delight and anticipation.

Most people who don’t know what the hullabaloo is all about, here we are with the reasons why netizens are going ga-ga over Heartstopper –

1. It is the screen adaptation of the the super popular web comic of the same name. The young-adult web comic has been created by Alice Oseman. The Heartstopper web comic boasts 5,00,000 subscribers on Webtoon alone. Webtoon is a website that hosts web comics, with most of them free to read. Similarly, Heartstopper is available to read on the Tapas platform, as well as on Tumblr, with both having a humongous number of Heartstopper readers. All those who’ve read the Heartstopper comic novels are already head over heels in love with the characters. A screen adaptation of Heartstopper is icing on the cake for them.

2. Alice Oseman, creator of the Heartstopper web comics, is closely associated with the Netflix adaptation of the comic. She’s written the script, as also been obsessively involved in every tiny thing – costumes, casting, production design, everything. As a result, fans of the comics are pleasantly surprised with the close similarity of the screen adaptation of Heartstopper with the comics. And of course, they’re over the moon due to it!

3. Heartstopper is squeaky clean – no drugs, no alcohol, no hook-ups, no sex, just good old fun, enduring friendships, butterflies-in-the-tummy kind of romance and all things warm and fuzzy. Fans have labelled Heartstopper as ‘anti-Euphoria’, given how it is the polar opposite of the drugs-and-sex-driven HBO show, Euphoria. Fans say Heartstopper shows adolescents in a normal, genuine light, quite unlike the typical drug and sex addled teens that have been stereotyped in today’s woke shows. It is clearly a good thing that is bound to work in Heartstopper’s favor.

4. Heartstopper gives off positive vibes of optimism, the purity of love, the power of friendships and hopeful inclusivity that’s rarely been on screen before. It is a joyous and delightful look into the lives of adolescents who carefully navigate the growing up journey. Heartstopper is a clean, wholesome watch that will warm the cockles of every heart.

5. It treads the subject of gay love with sensitivity, giving a realistic touch to LGBTQ issues and sexuality. Several gay people have hailed the comics and the Netflix show for its terrific depiction of same sex love. This tweet says it all –
