Heartstopper Season 3 And The Exit Of A Beloved Character

In an unfortunate turn of events, one member of the original star cast of Netflix’s teenage heartthrob series ‘Heartstopper’ will not be coming back for the forthcoming 3rd season of the series.

Olivia Colman has recently become one of the most captivating actors to appear on both the big and small screen and deliver surreal performances that make us understand and feel the emotions of her characters on a deep, personal level. Since winning the Oscar for Best Actress in 2019 for playing Queen Anne in The Favourite, she was most recently seen as Timothée Chalamet’s ruthless adversary in Wonka.

In ‘Heartstopper’, she played Sarah Nelson, protagonist Nick Nelson’s supportive mother. However, she will not be returning for the upcoming season. Reflecting upon her journey in the series, she stated that she couldn’t do number three because she couldn’t fit it into her hectic schedule. In her own words, “I feel like I was part of one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever been part of”.

Her portrayal of the ever-supportive mother of a teenager coming to terms with his sexual orientation was of utmost importance in today’s world. The widespread acclaim that the show garnered was a testament to the hoards of young people who found comfort in the show’s plotlines and characters, especially like Colman’s.

While this exit is sure a bummer for supporters of the show, excitement for the new season continues to be at an all-time high!
