It’s time to say goodbye to Netflix’s Heartstopper! The beloved romantic comedy-drama series will conclude with a movie, according to the streamer’s recent announcement. The leading duo, Joe Locke (who plays Charlie Spring) and Kit Connor (who portrays Nick Nelson), will also serve as executive producers for the film, in addition to starring in it.
Filming for the Heartstopper movie will begin this summer. The movie will be written by none other than the show’s executive producer, creator, and popular graphic novelist Alice Oseman. Volume six of her graphic novel series will be adapted for the project. Meanwhile, ‘Still Alice’ director Wash Westmoreland will take on directing duties.
Tudum reveals that the Heartstopper film will continue the story after Season 3, with Nick and Charlie deeply in love. However, their relationship faces a significant hurdle as Nick prepares for university and Charlie explores his newfound independence. The prospect of a long-distance romance creates doubts and presents their biggest challenge yet, according to the synopsis.
Heartstopper will return, bigger than ever.

Meanwhile, Nick and Charlie’s friends are also navigating the highs and lows of their own relationships and friendships as they face the bittersweet realities of adolescence and change.
Aside from Kit Connor and Joe Locke, Netflix hasn’t revealed the rest of the cast for the Heartstopper movie. We expect the streamer to drop those announcements soon.
Netflix’s Heartstopper series has been widely praised by critics, especially for its sensitive tone, effective pacing, and authentic representation of LGBTQ+ individuals. This acclaim was evident at the first Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, where the debut season earned nine nominations and won five.
The series also found instant popularity with audiences, quickly becoming one of Netflix’s top ten English-language shows within its first two days. This success further boosted the popularity of the original graphic novels and the show’s soundtrack.
In the meantime, you can stream all episodes of Heartstopper on Netflix if you haven’t already. Stay tuned for more updates!
