India is in a complete breathing crisis, thanks to the massive surge of Covid-19 pandemic. Businesses are shut; theatres are closed, normal life in on a halt and most important thing to survive i.e. Oxygen is missing.
Every single nook and cranny in India, from a massive metropolitan city to a remote village, people are crying for help and due to extremely high demand, the government is not able to supply the requested amount of oxygen cylinders to several hospitals.
But the good news is, a lot of celebrities came forward and did their bit to ensure the hospitals receive sufficient amounts of oxygen in order to treat the patients. And now, 18 international celebrities came together to rescue India from this hellish situation.
On 1st May, a virtual fundraiser ‘Help India Breathe – Up to $1M will be matched!’ by British-Indian author and former monk Jay Shetty and his wife Radhi, in association with non-profit charitable organizations Indiaspora & Giveindia went live simultaneously on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram with an aim to raise up to $1 million.
Joining Jay and Radhi Shetty on this noble cause was Lilly Singh, Deepak Chopra, Dhar Mann, Payal Kadakia, Kunal Nayyar, Jay Sean, Amanda Cerny, Gaur Gopal, Willow Smith, Radhanath Swami along with Janina Gavankar, Vishen Lakhiani, Jahnavi Harrison, Humble The Poet, Deepica Mutyala and Anjula Acharia. They all have talked about the current scenarios of India, the ways to help and even performed songs in order to keep the show within a happy note.
The live streaming went for two and a half hours and at the end, Jay Shetty took his Instagram to thank everyone participated in the fundraiser and to share the news that they have already raised 28815268.39 Indian Rupees which is almost four hundred thousand US Dollars and they requested all their fans to keep donating to reach the 1 million USD mark.
This was an extremely noble gesture by all these celebrities to proactively come forward in order to help the Indian people in this moment of crisis.
