Henry Cavill’s Argylle Finds Success On Streaming

Argylle is undoubtedly one of the biggest financial bombs the world of cinema has ever witnessed. Made on a gigantic budget of $200 million, the Henry Cavill starrer earned even less than half of the film’s budget, $96.2 million. However, the film has found success in the streaming world, thanks to its release on the Apple TV+ streaming platform.

According to RealGood, Argylle has emerged as the second most-watched title in the United States (April 11 – 17), falling behind Prime Video’s Fallout. Argylle ranked second with over 20 million individual views.

Masterpieces like The Zone of Interest and Poor Things ranked third and fourth, respectively. Hulu’s Shogun ranks sixth on this list.

While Argylle benefitted from the fine performances of its cast, it was ultimately let down by Matthew Vaughn’s poor direction, convoluted plot, and overlong runtime.

Argylle is not the first Henry Cavill film that has bombed this year. His latest outing with Guy Ritchie, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, has also met a similar fate. The film has barely collected $9 million in its opening weekend, which looks like nothing against its hefty $60 million budget.

Apart from Henry Cavill, Argylle stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, John Cena, Dua Lipa, Samuel L. Jackson, Catherine O’Hara, and Ariana DeBose. Stay tuned for more updates.
