Uma (2018)- Disney+Hotstar:
‘Uma’ directed by Srijit Mukherjee is a movie that will make you nostalgic and homesick for some time. It tells the story of a father who lives outside India and he gets to know his daughter has a terrible disease and will not live for long. Uma, the daughter, has never seen Durga Puja, the biggest festival of Bengal as she has always been abroad. The father is determined to make her see the grandeur of the festival and he makes arrangements for an untimely Puja around the whole city. The lead characters are played beautifully by Jisshu Sengupta and his own daughter Sara Sengupta and their chemistry is awesome. You should watch this film with your whole family and will absolutely love it.
Asur (2020)- Zee5:
‘Asur’ directed by Pavel, is one of the best thrillers made in the Bengali film industry. It has a cast of actors like Jeet, Abir Chatterjee, Nusrat Jahan andamu others. It tells the story of Kigan, a weird and unique personality, who happens to be an artist. Kigan decides to make the largest Durga idol in the famous Deshapriya Park of Kolkataduring Puja. His college friend Bodhisattva is jealous of him because his wife spends too much time with Kigan. The enmity between the two and the ego clash pulls Kigan back again and again in the way of his giant venture. You will have to watch the movie to know what happens next. The performances are beautiful and the story proceeds smoothly. The aesthetics of the movie will blow your mind away.
