‘Doob: No Bed Of Roses’ had its theatrical release on the 27th of October, 2017 and was Bangladesh’s official entry to the Academy Awards that year. The movie is written and directed by well known filmmaker of the industry Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Apart from Irrfan, the movie stars Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra. Doob is available to watch on Netflix.
Irrfan Khan plays the role of Javed Hasan, a filmmaker who starts to like the friend of her adult daughter and faces many moral dilemmas. He has to choose between people he loves. The tormented life and the pain he faces are portrayed beautifully by the actor. The film is shot with care and there is Visual ecstasy in the frames. The wonderful music is composed by Chirkutt and Pavel Areen.
The film resembles the life of Humayun Ahmed, arguably the most influential author of Bangladesh and that was the reason behind many controversies. Humayun’s wife Meher Afroz brought it to the notice of the government that the film is somehow similar to the late author’s life. Fans, however, did not have much of a problem with the film and they enjoyed watching almost-a-biopic enacted by one of the greatest actors.
Irrfan Khan has given a tremendously smooth and subtle performance in the movie, and his co-actors have also done a good job. The technical aspects are laudable and you will love this movie if you are a fan of melancholic and tragic drama films.
If you love cinema, you should go beyond regular cinema and explore underrated domains of filmmaking. On the birthday of Irrfan Khan, watch his masterpiece ‘No Bed Of Roses’ on Netflix.
